Kimberly Chmielewski

A native of Chicago, Illinois, Kimberly Chmielewski is an established professional dancer, choreographer, and teacher in Denver, CO. For over a decade, Kimberly has been investing in the artistic growth and development of the Colorado dance community.

Currently, Kimberly is the Contemporary Director for Rocky Mountain Conservatory, as well as the founder and artistic director of jk-co.

As a teacher and choreographer, Kimberly has won “Outstanding Choreographer” and “Outstanding Teacher” Awards at Youth American Grand Prix (2018, 2020, 2021, 2023, 2024). “Outstanding Choreography,” “Outstanding Contemporary Coach,”and “Outstanding Ensemble” at Universal Ballet Competition (2023, 2024, 2025), and “Outstanding Choreographer” at World Ballet Competition (2018). Her work for both ensembles, solos, and duets has taken 1st, 2nd, and Top 6 every year at competitions including Youth American Grand Prix, Universal Ballet Competition, ADC IBC, and others, as well at 4th Place at UBC Finals in 2025. Kimberly has choreographed and performed work both nationally and internationally.

In Denver, Kimberly has danced for Hannah Kahn Dance Company, Lemon Spongecake Contemporary Ballet, Nu-World Contemporary Danse Theatre, Moraporvida Contemporary Dance, and guest and freelanced with many other companies. She has had the honor of performing and collaborating in works by José Limón, George Balanchine, Alejandro Cerrudo, Alonzo King, David Dorfman, Michael Medcalf, Julie Bour, and Lawrence Pech to name a few.

Kimberly received her BFA and Honors in Dance and BA in Sociology from The University of Iowa. Her early training was under the tutelage of George de la Peña, Greg Begley, and Judith Svalander and at institutions such as Joffrey Ballet, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, and summers at American Ballet Theatre.
